Quick Book talk

I am reading The Last Wish of Sasha Cade by Cheyanne Young. This book is about a girl whose best friend dies of cancer named Rocki. After her friends death, Rocki discovers that her friend had left a puzzle of activities for her to do so she can complete her dead friends last wish. While completing the tasks, Rocki starts to learn how to live without her best friend and how to be ok after this tragedy. This book is not a quick read but is very interesting and so far, has never made me want to put it down. If I was to rate this book I so far, I would give it a 4.9/5 because it has always kept me intrigued and has a very unique story line.

Important Quote from Just Mercy

I chose the quote,”Relinquish your fears and doubts and heal yourself in the process” (147 Stevenson). This quote shows how prisoners on death row usually get to a point where they become numb to the pain and fears of their situation and try to become a better person. Also, this quote makes me wonder if I was to be wrongly convicted of a crime would I feel similar to what the quote describes. Also, The book talks about prisoners becoming religious or find an interest in the legal system to help them get through their difficult situation. I think that it is smart for the prisoners to find something productive to due with their time and try to get their minds off of a difficult situation.

Blended Mini Seminar:How does Just Mercy Tie in with the Dystopia Unit?

So far, I am enjoying Just Mercy very much but am every confused about why this book is considered a dystopia because it is non-fiction and about a lawyer. I can see the argument that this book shows a whole new side of the south that is extremely unjust and crazy when compared to normal society but the fact that these events and court cases are real is what is throwing me for a loop. During our seminar in class today, everyone else was able to provide a clear expiation to why their book was considered a dystopia. With Just Mercy I feel that I need to see more of the book before I can really agree with this books classification.
